One of our most popular designs the mini dress is a super versatile wardrobe staple.

Each fabric has a reference number & details of which of our designs + sizes it is suitable for. Comment on the instagram post or email us via info@theemperorsoldclothes.co.uk to reserve it – we generally only have enough of each fabric for 1-2 garments so this step is really important!
2. Place your order here – double-check you have the correct garment style.
Your fabric reservation lasts for 72 hours so please place your order during this time otherwise the fabric will become available to other customers.
3. Sit back, make a cup of tea + get excited about your one of a kind garment!
With a comfortable figure-hugging cut, this cute mini dress finishes above the knee. Handmade from scratch in your choice of fabric the dress fastens with a side zip fastening.
Wear the dress alone with your favourite shoes for outfit number 1.
For all year round wear style the dress with a high-neck top underneath and ankle boots to keep you warm in the colder months.
It would make for a perfect summer dress or vintage-inspired dress to wear to a wedding. Dress up with black clutch bag & heels or go for a relaxed feel with summer basket, sunglasses & sandals. When the temperature drops simply add tights, ankle boots and some cashmere.
Feel good fashion! This cute mini dress will be created by our small team in our Brighton studio for a living wage. Every piece we make is totally unique and will not be reproduced.

STEP 1
We start the leg length measurement from the waist as most of our designs are high-waisted. Locate your waistline which is the narrowest part of your torso: it’s helpful to pull your top to be tight against the body so you can locate the narrowest point.
STEP 2
Place the tape measure at your waistline and measure down the leg until you find the point at which you want your garment to end.
For instance: A mini-skirt may finish above the knee whilst a pencil skirt traditionally finishes just below the knee.
Remember it’s up to you how long you want the length of your garment to be!
We can always take a hem up to make your garment shorter but it’s far trickier to make a garment longer so if you’re unsure it’s always safer to measure a little longer than shorter.

I chose a thick, soft wool for this dress with a relaxed fit and deep hemline for the custom length skirt. It fits me perfectly but skims my body just so that I can slip a warm top underneath in the winter. The finishings are excellent (I chose unlined so that it wouldn’t be too bulky) and the deep hem frill looks just as I’d hoped. I can wear this dress with heels or chunky shoes. Can’t wait for winter!

For my Emperor’s A-line mini, I chose a really cute pink 80s/90s ‘Saved by the Bell’ type of fabric – and the garment style I chose was inspired by another customer (hi, Isla!). It turned into the perfect 90s/Barbie dress – classic necline, sleeveless with armhole frills, side seam pockets, and a fine cotton lining. Would absolutely love to recreate this garment style again in a different fabric. 🙂
