This fabric is a light / medium weight cotton mix fabric. This is a cotton fabric that has been mixed with man made fibres. As with much of our deadstock the cotton quantity is unknown. It is a versatile fabric which can be used to create lots of different garment types

Whilst this fabric is not especially drapey it has enough structure and movement to hold the silhouettes of garment features nicely. It works well across all our designs (trousers, coats and jackets would be on the lighter weight side) and may need lining depending on the garment type you choose – see “our recommendations” tab

Here are our recommended garment feature suggestions for different garment types in this fabric:

Trouser / Trousers Two Piece / Classic Dungarees

– Fine cotton lining recommended
– Garment must be fully lined
– Perfect for holding the structure of a puff or gathered sleeve
– Any pocket type will work (garment must be lined for bound pockets)
– Crotch reinforcement recommended if you experience thigh chafing – this can feel stiff at first wear but softens up with washing and wear over time

Wide Leg Trousers / Wide Leg Trouser Two Piece / Wide Leg Dungarees / Culottes / Culottes Two Piece / Dungaree Culottes / Shorts / Shorts Two Piece / Playsuit

– Fine cotton lining recommended to give drapey fabrics more structure
– Garment must be fully lined
– Perfect for holding the structure of a puff or gathered sleeve
– Any pocket type will work (garment must be lined for bound pockets)

– No lining recommended – unless you want a lining for sensory preferences
– Perfect for holding the structure of a puff or gathered sleeve

Cropped Jacket / Classic Coat / Trapeze Coat / Gathered Coat / Skater Coat

– Coats and jackets will be on the lighter side
– Coats and jackets must be lined, you can choose from our fabric inventory or select ‘complimentary block colour’ and our team will find a suitable lining from our lightweight lining fabrics
– Any pocket type will work (garment must be lined for bound pockets)
– Perfect for holding the structure of a puff or gathered sleeve

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

This fabric is machine washable. With all our machine washable fabrics we recommend washing your garments at 30 degrees or less. We do not recommend tumble drying them as this can shrink the fabric and lessens the life span of your clothes. We would recommend hanging up your Emperor’s garments to dry, either on a hanger, on a clotheshorse or a washing line.

Machine wash at 30

Use fabric sample sent with garment to test wash. Measure sample before and after wash. Take photo of sample to check difference in fabric before or after. Cut sample in half, measure both, compare after one has been through a wash cycle

Medium to high spin cycle- 1000- 1400

Iron on medium to high heat. Use fabric sample to test for ironing garment

Do not tumble dry

Line / Hanger / Clotheshorse dry

Reshape garment before leaving to dry

Be aware that leaving garment drying in direct sunlight can lead to fading if left for long periods of intense sunlight
Use a pillow case or garment bag to protect garment while in washing machine

Alternative ways to washing your garment to keep it fresh and give your garment more longevity
– Hang up for a few days to air
– Hang up in shower room for steaming
– Spot wash stains rather than wash whole garment

Design your own garments take approximately 6-9 weeks to create before they are shipped.

Design your own coats and silk chiffon garments take approximately 10-12 weeks to create before they are shipped.

Please note that any garments ordered during a flash sale take approximately 10-12 weeks to create before they are shipped.

If you would prefer to receive your order more quickly you can add a ‘Jump the queue’ surcharge to your order when you are on the checkout page and your garment will be created in 3-4 weeks then shipped to you.

Please note it is one Jump the queue surcharge per one garment so if you are ordering multiple garments you will need to add multiple ‘Jump the queue’ surcharges. ‘Jump the queue slots are subject to availability – if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We ship using circular packaging which will automatically be added to your basket. Read our FAQ page to find out more.

*PLEASE NOTE* If you are on a low income you can opt-out of packaging charges at checkout.

Please send your empty packaging back to us ( you will need to assign postage) so we can reuse it for future orders and keep our packaging circular for the whole Emperor’s community. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

RETURNS

Design your own orders are non-returnable + non-refundable. If the fit isn’t quite right when your garment arrives, we work with you to get it just right! Simply get in touch with us within 14 days of receiving your order to discuss your alteration For more information read our Returns Policy before placing your order.

Please send back your item(s) to us using your circular package using the return address label provided; you will need to add postage.
