The classic coat is a wardrobe essential.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR FABRIC + PLACE YOUR ORDER:

1. Choose your fabric by heading to our instagram fabric gallery

Each fabric has a reference number & details of which of our designs + sizes it is suitable for. Comment on the instagram post or email us via info@theemperorsoldclothes.co.uk to reserve it – we generally only have enough of each fabric for 1-2 garments so this step is really important!

2. Place your order here – double-check you have the correct garment style.

Your fabric reservation lasts for 72 hours so please place your order during this time otherwise the fabric will become available to other customers.

Important: make sure to write your size, sleeve preference + fabric reference number in the order notes when you are entering your payment details.

3. Sit back, make a cup of tea + get excited about your one of a kind garment!

GARMENT DETAILS:

With a comfortable design, this coat finishes around the knee. Handmade from scratch in your choice of fabric.

WAYS TO WEAR:

Our coats look great as an outer layer over any outfit.

All our clothing and accessories are hand-tailored from scratch in our Brighton + Hove studio. Every item we create is completely unique and created using mainly vintage and end-of-roll fabrics so no two items are the same.

My reversible classic coat is wonderful. I went for a pink parrot print on one side with turquoise patch pockets and a contrasting cobolt blue belt. In the reverse I went for a Cobolt blue with a pink parrot contrasting pockets and belt I can wear with or without. I can turn up the cuffs for a little colour contrast too. They’re so gorgeous and what a versatile garment. I love my coat!

My blue and black wool classic coat is my absolute staple coat now, it is utter perfection. The fit is amazing (because of a measurement chat from Cecily) and the patch pockets are perfect and generous. I also absolutely adore the fabric. If I ever need another coat I’d order the same again. Thank you!

I’ve never been able to find a coat that fits me due to being short yet curvy. This was a game changer for me, I’ve ordered two coats from emperors, one which is for every day and one which is for special occasions, with slightly cropped arms. Being able to choose your own fabric means choosing a gorgeous lining! I’ve had so many compliments on my coats and I can’t imagine now buying a coat which isn’t made to measure.
