STEPS

Check + clean your item(s)

Submit your resale form on the website

Package your item(s) + send to us via the address on the resale page

We will let you know it’s arrived

We will check your item + categorise it + let you know within 7 days

It will be listed for sale / It be will returned to you / It will be fixed within 21 days and listed

Once sold we will let you know within 5 days of sale

After 21 days from item being shipped store credit will be issued within 3 days

If garment is returned we will let you know + it will be re-listed when it arrives back to us

PRICING

Excellent condition / never been worn = item will be listed at 50% of original price

Good condition / lightly worn = 40% of original price

Well-worn = 30% of original price

Damaged / seconds = 25% of original price

Customer gets 30% of resale price as store credit once the item is sold + the sale is completed (the new owner will have 21 days from the date of shipping to request a return + refund)

The Emperor’s Old Clothes Ltd retains the right to refuse very damaged garments that cannot be resold. In these cases the item will be sent back to you or we will dispose of it at your request

DOs + DON’Ts

DO:

Make sure you item is clean and ready to sell

Make us aware of any damage / wear when filling out your resale form

Be patient – this is slow fashion, it may take a while for your item to find a new home with the right person

Be happy that you are taking steps to mindfully rehome your clothing whilst supporting a small brand!

DON’T:

Send us a garment without fully reading the terms + conditions and making sure you are happy to proceed

Send us an unclean garment – please be respectful of our team (check the pockets!)

Be disappointed if your garment isn’t categorised as excellent condition if it has wear etc. It’s better for the listing to be upfront about any imperfections so the new owner is more likely to be happy + want to keep the item

    SELLING

    How much store credit will I get?

    You will receive 30% of the garment’s resale price (not including any shipping costs) as store credit. The resale price is set according to the condition of the resale garment you have sent to us

    Why can’t I get cash instead or store credit?

    The Emperor’s team are taking care of the quality control, photography, listing the garment online, the customer service with both yourself and the new customer and the shipping. The cost of the resale garment goes to covering the costs of us running these services. We are passing on 30% of the value of this sale in the form of store credit so that you as the original customer still gets a financial benefit off their next purchase with us.

    When will I get my store credit?

    Your store credit coupon code will be issued between 21-24 days after your Emperor’s resale garment is shipped to its new owner – please note the new owner has up to 21 days from the date of shipping to return the item for a full refund (unless they have the garment altered)

    What happens if my garment doesn’t sell?

    If your Emperor’s resale garment doesn’t sell within six months of being listed on our website we will get in touch with you to see if you would like it to remain for resale on the site or whether you would like it to be returned to you

    What if my garments are damaged?

    When we receive your garment we will review it and make a decision about whether or not it is in a resaleable condition or whether it is too damaged to resell. We will get in touch with you to let you know our conclusions and discuss next steps

    What can I use my store credit for?

    Your store credit can be used for new design your own garments on our website. Each sale will receive it’s own store credit coupon code – this code cannot be redeemed in conjunction with any other codes, offers or gift vouchers. If you have multiple store credit coupon codes up to the total combined value of £30 you can contact us to request to exchange them for a combined code. We cannot do this for more than the value of £30.

    Can I send you non-Emperor’s garments to resell?

    Our resale service is only eligible for garments we have made, we cannot accept garments from any other brands / makers etc

    BUYING

    What happens if I don’t like the garment when it arrives?

    Emperor’s resale garments can be returned for a full refund within 21 days from the date of shipping. If we have not heard from you or received either the garment or proof of shipping of the garment back to us within 21 days of the date of shipping then we will not be able to issue a refund / accept a garment return

    What if I like the garment but it needs altering?

    Please get in touch with our team via email to info@theemperorsoldclothes.co.uk or book in an alterations video call with Louisa via our booking calendar

    Are resale garments returnable / refundable?

    Emperor’s resale garments can be returned for a full refund within 21 days from the date of shipping. If we have not heard from you or received either the garment or proof of shipping of the garment back to us within 21 days of the date of shipping then we will not be able to issue a refund / accept a garment return

    Can I buy a resale garment on a payment plan?

    Unfortunately we aren’t able to offer payment plans for resale garments

    When will my resale garment be shipped?

    Your resale garment will be shipped within 5 working days of your purchase on our website (unless otherwise stated at checkout)
